Derma treatments

Fractional Micro-Needle Skin Therapy System

Dermapen is a unique microneedling device that has quickly become the innovative Leader in Anti Aging treatments. The Dermapen can be used alone as well as in combination with other treatments.

Dermapen is much safer and more effective in piercing the skin than traditional skin needling Rollers, because of its unique vertical needling technology. It has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation. Active ingredients are directly supplied to the deeper layers of the skin.

Dermapen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depths allow the needles to pierce the skin’s layers at 90 degrees and increases the effectiveness of treatments by increasing the absorption of products. On the other hand, it reduces pain and patient downtime.

Dermapen can effectively treat hard-to-reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose, and lips). Because of the vertical delivery, the needles can easily penetrate scar tissue.

Dermapen promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.

The Derma treatment: The Derma treatment contains the following:

This oil-free, hyaluronic acid gel increases the moisture-binding and hydration content within the dermis layer of skin. Hyaluronic acid molecules attract, bind, and retain water molecules the skin needs to become better hydrated, healthy, and plump.

This botanically-based lightening formula is an advanced lightening gel to treat hyperpigmentation by evening the skins tone, diminishing brown spots, age spots, and reducing skin discoloration. Botanical extracts cucumber and thyme help reduce redness, irritation, and erythema prone skin conditions. This botanical gel provides soothing, calming, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiseptic properties.

A new PRP cosmetic procedure uses this popular treatment in conjunction with the Dermapen procedure. Both procedures are used independently; however the combination or dual modality of using the Dermapen’s fractional trans-dermal delivery application is being shown here to increase per-cutaneous absorption of the PRP medium. Dermapen’s automated modality delivers thousands of micro sized injuries to the dermal layer of the skin. These tiny micro sized 33 gauge needles vibrate and punch vertically into the skin at speeds of up to 25+ times/sec. This controlled “damage” to the skin harnesses the bodies own injury response to rejuvenate and repair the skin through the proven science of collagen stimulation known as collagen induction therapy (CIT). The Dermapen treatment has been available for purchase by medical professionals for the last year in the U.S. and overseas in many different Countries.

The Dermapen treatment now being combined with the PRP therapy in practices across the world. The PRP treatment is administered first and involves the application of a rich concentration of the patients own platelet rich plasma that is spun down via a centrifuge device. The Dermapen uses the fractionated pattern of micro needles to drive the PRP into the dermal – epidermal junction (DEJ). The Dermapen device allows the practitioner to vary the speed and depth to handle all different areas of the patient’s face and body. The PRP treatment is widely accepted as a very effective treatment and takes advantage of the bodies own powerful growth factors to stimulate healing and rejuvenation. Now when combined with the Dermapen treatment, the PRP therapy has an effective delivery application to easily penetrate the surface of the skin and jump start the rejuvenation process. The treatment is easily administered and there is no clinical downtime for the patient. This treatment is used to help patients with all skin types and is a corrective and preventative therapy to treat fine lines and wrinkles, manage scars from acne or other injuries, improve skin texture and color from melasma presentations, reduce stretch mark appearance and stimulate new collagen growth.

Derma for Stretch Mark

Various treatments are available for the purpose of improving the appearance of existing stretch marks, including laser treatments, dermabrasion, and prescription retinoids.[citation needed] Some cream manufacturers claim the best results are achieved on recent stretch marks; however, few studies exist to support these claims. The use of the Dermapen®uses the bodies natural solution for unsightly stretch marks. New collagen growth and stimulation is more effective for reducing and fading stretch marks. The Dermapen® does this through Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

The Dermapen® device allows for appropriate treatment needle depth to activate the cascade of fibroblast and growth hormone steps to generate more skin, collagen and elastin for smooth and healthy colored skin. The skin of the epidermis effectively thickens and noticeable smoother and evening of stretch marks is the result.

How many treatments are needed?

Your medical professional can consult you on a prescribed treatment. Most patients see a noticeable difference in just one treatment however 5-6 treatments may be necessary. After 5-6 treatments striae improvement is noticeable with improved texture and appearance of mature, white striae in skin types I-IV. Four weeks between treatments is necessary to allow the bodies natural skin cycle to complete before another treatment should be performed.

Derma for acne scars/ surgical scars

The Dermapen® treatment can provide drastic results improving the appearances of the scars. The micro needles of the Dermapen® create new collagen and elastin to be generated and deposited called collagenesis, however the added benefit of new capillary growth is also a result which can improve blood supply to the area which helps create healthier existing skin as well as provide a healthy foundation for the new skin. The physical nature of “skin-needling” breaks up this fibrous and uneven scar tissue and stimulates the growth of new tissue. Currently there are ablative and non-ablative treatments offered which can damage the epidermis and evaporate the skin leading to thinner epidermis problems. The Dermapen® keeps the epidermis integrity full intact while treating the area which quickens healing time and causes less pain.

How many treatments?

Your medical professional should consult on medical treatment. While each patient is different and conditions will vary, the typical treatment regimen will consist of 5-6 treatments.

What causes a surgical scar?

A surgical scar is a type of injury to flesh caused by surgery, usually incision, that requires the modification of all layers. Because a surgeon cannot control all the factors that determine a scars appearance, treatment after the surgical area has properly healed is sometimes necessary.

How can they be treated?

The challenge of a surgical scar lies within the matrix of all the forms or categories of the scars involving hypertrophic and keloid scars and pigmentation flaws. These scars thicken over time. Scar therapy has been historically limited. The Dermapen’s®unique vertical stamping and depth control up to 2.5mm makes treating scars superior to other methods or rollering. With surgical steel integrity, the robust nature of the automated needle tip (11 needles total and sized at thirty-three gauge) penetrate difficult scar tissue, dramatically improving appearance, texture, elasticity, size and mobility.

Treatment Regimen

Scars have altered physiology compared to other skin conditions. Multiple treatments will be needed and vary depending on the severity and type of scar to see desired results.

Derma for Anti-wrinkle/Anti-aging

A wrinkle is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of the aging processes resulting in a thinning of the epidermal layers of the skin as they lose the ability to retain moisture. Wrinkling in the skin is caused by habitual facial expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration, and various other factors. Depletion of water in the body, as occurs with dehydration, can also cause this puckering of the skin. The dermal layer of the skin thins and produces less and less collagen over time. Underlying the dermal layer of the skin is the subcutaneous layer which consists of fat cells which shrink with age and become less able to support the upper layers of the skin which make wrinkles even more noticeable.

Because of the degradation of the skin over time, the required regimen for treatment is a preventative protocol. The Dermapen® promotes a process of new skin growth through the science of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The most effective way to stimulate or “Induce” new skin is by micro-needling with the Dermapen’s® vertical stamping method. This new stimulation can be done quickly and easily while keeping the epidermis intact and down-time to a minimum.

How many Dermapen treatments are needed?

Your medical professional can consult you on a prescribed treatment. Skin conditions are different as well as the age of each patient. 2-3 aggressive Derma Pen treatments will provide a noticeable difference, however 5-6 Derma Pen treatments will show the most dramatic results. It is important to work with your practitioner on what treatment specifics to observe. Once the skin condition has the desired effects, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning to your practitioner or performing a new Derma Pen treatment every 12-24 weeks.
